We do not collect personal or health information about you if you only browse this website. We analyse non-identifiable website traffic data to improve our website and services.
If you request a test, we will collect information about you so that we can provide the services you’ve requested. This may include your name, date of birth, NHI (National Health Index number), address, and contact details. This information helps us to correctly identify you and to contact you as necessary.

- using the request a test widget
- using live web chat
- submitting the contact form
- submitting the feedback form
- sharing your location to receive location-specific information i.e. health services available in your area

Information you share with us is confidential. We must follow the rules set out in the Privacy Act and the Health Information Privacy Code.
We collect your personal and health information so we can:
- Provide the services or information that you have requested
- With your permission, refer you to another service provider (we may pass relevant information on to that provider as part of the referral)
- Undertake customer service activities, such as responding to any feedback or complaints you may have
- Comply with the requirements of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora who funds the National Online STI Testing Service.
- Comply with relevant laws and regulations
How much information you share with us is up to you. However not sharing some details may mean it is difficult for us to provide you with the services or information you require.
We respect and protect the privacy and confidentiality of your personal and health information. We will not share your information unless you ask us to, or we are required to do so by law.
With your permission, we may communicate with appropriate health practitioners to ensure you receive the health services to which you are entitled, such as linking you to other health providers and arranging tests if necessary.
If you use the website to request a test, you will automatically become a client of Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa. Your information will be shared with third-party providers to enable us to deliver the service – but your personal information will not be stored by them.
We provide non-identifiable information to Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, who fund the National Online STI Testing Service.
Research may be undertaken on non-identifiable information (we do not disclose personal information that can identify you).
We will not disclose your personal and health information to other organisations without your consent, unless required or allowed by law.
